Understanding Your First Monthly Bill and Prorated Charges

Understanding Your First Monthly Bill and Prorated Charges

What Is a Prorated Fee?

A prorated fee is a one-time charge that applies only at the time of your initial activation for a Monthly Plan.

PhoneBox uses a fixed billing cycle that runs from the 2nd of each month to the 1st of the following month.

Because your activation date may fall in the middle of this cycle, your first payment is calculated based on the number of days from your activation date until the next billing cycle begins.

At the time of activation, you will be charged for:

  • A prorated service fee: Covers service from your activation date to the 1st of the following month
  • The full service fee for the next billing cycle: Covers the full cycle from the 2nd to the 1st

This upfront charge occurs only once. After that, you will be billed monthly for one full billing cycle at a time.

How Data Proration Works

If you activate your plan in the middle of the month, both the service fee and data allowance are prorated.

On the 2nd of the following month, your data allowance will reset and the full data amount of your selected plan will be applied.

  • **Prorated data amount : **Plan data÷days in month×days until the 2nd

Real-world Example

Andy activates a $35 / 75GB monthly plan on May 15.

Fee

  • First prorated month (May 15 to Jun 01): $35 * 18/31 = $20.32 +tax
  • The next month’s complete payment (from Jun 02 to Jul 01) = $35 + tax

Data

  • Prorated data limit from May 15 to Jun 01: 75GB * 18/31 = 43.54 GB
  • 75GB is granted at the start of each full billing cycle.
