What is eSIM?

**What is eSIM?

Requirements:

An eSIM is a form of programmable SIM card that is embedded directly into a device. It can't be inserted, removed, or transferred to a new device.

An eSIM QR code contains a digital SIM that will let you access a cellular plan without inserting a physical SIM card. The eSIM also allows you to use up to two phone numbers depending on the smartphone.

You can check their eSIM device compatibility by dialing *#06# on their device to display the IMEI number, then confirming it supports eSIM functionality.

Case Example:

João is living in his hometown in Brazil. He plans to visit Canada for a period of 3 months. João doesn’t want to go through the SIM card shipping process which could take up to 10-15 business days for an international package to arrive from Canada. João was looking for an alternative way that could save him time and money.

João then decided to proceed with activation by requesting PhoneBox for an eSIM as a SIM option. He received a QR code sent out by PhoneBox via his registered email address, then scanned the code and activated the service without going through any shipping process.
